My little boy (3.5) just absolutely hates sleep. He never wants to sleep and when he does he wants to sleep in my arms, in my bed or just on top of me.
After a night without any sleep, I turned to bribery... I said if he sleeps I will take him to his favourite play place after school the next day and he can choose any milkshake... He needs to stay in his own bed for the night and he needs to sleep without waking me...
After our normal bedtime routine... Eat, bath, watching a story (Yes, I know the story isn't great, but we watch aviation videos and have awesome conversations about aviation and spaceships). Usually, I watch 1 story, then sing a song and say night, my husband will stay behind and watch about 2 more videos (2min each). Then I'm done... till he wakes up. Last night, my husband had to work, so he only watched 1 video and I had the privilege to watch 2 extra videos and make up a great song about a plane and his landing gear not working whilst doing a few touch and goes...
I am very bad at putting him to bed... I just don't have it in me... I am too soft and he is way to manipulative. I enjoy the cuddles and he loves kicking me in the face while we cuddle... After the 3rd time getting him back in bed, even asking his granny to tell him a bed time story.. I ended up in his bed. He wants to go play the next day, but he doesn't want to sleep or stay in his room...
At this point I gave up... Just held him until we both fell asleep... Around 23:30 I managed to get to my own room and sleep by myself for about 5 minutes...
I love waking up thinking there is an intruder in the house... Right next to my bed...
"Mommy, I'm wet..."
Having way too many drinks before bed will lead to this. Let's quickly get you dressed and back in bed.
"My bed is wet, can I please sleep with you and still go play tomorrow?"
I cannot punish him for wetting his bed... But now I'm not sure if that was part of the manipulation to sleep in my bed and still get to go play... Wait he is 3.5, impossible to make that connection... I might have a evil little genius.
I love the kicks and kisses even though I was 30 minutes late for work, as I couldn't stop cuddling....
Any ideas on how to bribe him tonight?
